Thanksgiving Recess

  • *242, 245 contracts: Nov 28-29
    *These employees must record a leave day if not in attendance on Nov 27th
    (Traditional school principals may use a vacation day as this is a non-student day)
  • YRE, Trad, 206 contracts: Nov 27-29

As per DP 335(B):  Employees who have not been approved by Human Resources for using a personal day before and after a holiday may be docked (certified $116 or classified 40% of their daily rate).  Please refer to policy for further clarification.

Parent/Teacher Conference

  • Traditional Elem (Comp Day Nov 8): Nov 6-7
  • YRE Tracks A,B,C (Comp Day Nov 9): Nov 4-8
  • YRE Track D (Comp Day Nov 23): Nov 18-22

As per DP 335 & DP 370: Licensed employees may not use a personal or alternative leave day if absent from parent teacher conferences.  They may use a sick day or a no-pay day if applicable.  The absence should be entered on the comp day.

The following administrative assignments made by District administration:

  • Karl McKenzie, teacher specialist in the Special Education Department, appointed assistant principal at Kauri Sue Hamilton School, effective Nov. 4.
  • Scott Festin, senior planner/demographics at Wasatch Front Regional Council, appointed Planning & Enrollment consultant in the Student Services Department, effective as soon as possible.
  • Garrett York, intern assistant principal at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Granite School District, appointed elementary assistant principal - assignment to be determined,  effective as soon as possible.
  • Caleb Olson, assistant principal at Sunset Ridge Middle School, be appointed Planning & Enrollment consultant in the Student Services Department, effective as Jan. 17, 2020 or as soon as possible.

The Teacher Salary Supplement Program (TSSP) was created to draw qualified individuals into education for specific subject areas that have been identified with staffing shortages and/or for the assistance with the fees affiliated with obtaining and maintaining accreditations with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification (NBPTS).

Before submitting an application at the TSSP Service Site, please review the Utah State Board of Education website regarding the program details and legislation at the following link:

Youth Mental Health First Aid FlyerYouth Mental Health First Aid USA is an 8-hour training for adults to teach how to help adolescents and young adults who may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it helps trainees identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
