Interpreter Certification Opportunity

Interpreter Certification FlyerLanguage & Culture Services is providing another opportunity for you to become certified as a District Interpreter. This course is for employees at the school level that have been hired to be interpreters in the front office, classroom, or for conferences. Through HB 302, a legislative bill passed in Utah to strengthen family engagement in education, this bill focuses on the need for schools to effectively communicate with parents and guardians so they can fully participate in their child’s education.

In this course, you will develop skills needed to handle complex school interactions with professionalism and accuracy. You will discuss interpretation in the contexts of ethics, cultural awareness, special education, parent-teacher conferences, language access laws, and learn best practices for interpretation.
