Training in the Science of Reading, or LETRS training, is an ongoing expectation of all teachers, administrators, and psychologists in K-3. Teachers, administrators, and psychologists who began LETRS training in 2021-22 should be complete with all unit classes and bookwork. Those who began training in 2022 should have completed unit classes and bookwork by the end of 2023.

Any teacher or psychologist who has been working through LETRS training this year (including those with license extensions) and is interested in receiving a stipend will need to have completed the required classwork and bookwork and submitted this Google Form by May 24, 2024.

After May 24, 2024, only teachers and psychologists who began LETRS training in 2023-24 will be eligible for a stipend upon completion of the next set of units and bookwork during the 2024-25 school year.

Naitional Endowment for the HumanitiesK-12 teachers and higher education faculty across the country can apply to attend professional development programs funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Selected educators will develop new teaching methods while delving deeply into a humanities topic through one- to four-week residential, virtual, and combined format programs.

This summer, NEH is offering 44 programs on a variety of humanities topics ranging from Shakespeare to the Space Age. These programs are highly competitive, but successful applicants receive an invaluable experience for educators to deepen their understanding of the humanities and learn new ways to incorporate that knowledge into their teaching. The application deadline for all 44 programs is March 5.

DTL Winter Tech Classes can help you improve your technology skills by learning about one of the following programs: Adobe Creative Cloud Express, Google Workspace, Nearpod, Canva, Mastery Connect, Canvas, and SchoolAI. These classes are online, with coursework completed online through Canvas.

There are stipends available as you complete the technology courses and integrate the tools in your classrooms and buildings. Teachers can earn $200 by completing the technology course and certification. There is an additional $350 stipend for working with your Digital Learning Specialist to teach a tech-enhanced lesson in your classroom. Finally, you can earn an additional $250 by leading a Tech PD training in your building. Limits Apply*

Contact Jared Covili, Digital Teaching and Learning Consultant, at jared.covili@jordandistrict.org or 801-587-8191 with questions.

Apply for participation today.

*Classes are limited to 20 participants. Must have an active teaching license. Teachers cannot already have a certification in the desired technology program. Applicants can only take one class for the stipend program and cannot have participated in our previous rounds (2022, 2023) of courses. Stipends only apply to classes taken in Jordan School District during the 2023-24 school year.

All nominations are due January 17th, 2024. Please remember this is for elementary principals and assistant principals only. Thank you for taking time to nominate exceptional elementary administrators!

Wit & Wisdom training is still available for teachers who have not yet had the opportunity to attend. Teachers and coaches at the elementary level who have not attended the training are asked to sign up on JPLS by January 22nd. All teachers and coaches are asked to attend the training this current school year.

There are two remaining implementation windows with corresponding training dates.  Please work with your school principal to determine which set of dates you should choose from.  All upcoming training dates are active in JPLS.
