Please be aware of a current ebook scam that is circulating and protect yourself from becoming a victim.

This is how the scam works.

Someone will create a website that is very similar to a well-known ebook website in order to steal financial and private information from individuals who are purchasing educational and other books.

  • The fake site is ebook.com
  • The real site is ebooks.com

The information is then forwarded to the real site so that the purchase is made and the individual continues to believe they have accessed the correct site.  In the meantime, the fake site uses the victim’s information to sign up for month-to-month subscriptions hoping that individuals who don’t regularly check their finances won't catch the subscriptions.

As the holidays approach, these types of scams proliferate, have multiple sites and companies, and employ social media and fake reviews in order to add legitimacy to their site.

In partnership with USBE and support from the Governor’s Office of Education, the Utah Teacher Fellows are collecting data on Equity in Utah Classrooms to inform state and local ESSA plans, particularly related to requirement #4 in the ESSA law.

Teacher input is required for developing state and district ESSA plans and we will be happy to provide disaggregated data for Jordan School District, if enough teachers from the District participate.

The survey is 12 multiple-choice questions and only takes a few minutes.  It was designed with input from USBE.

The closing date is Oct. 31 and is currently open.

  • USBE Teacher Survey

USBE is also planning to develop a toolkit of PD resources tailored to meet teacher needs based on feedback from teachers through this survey and the focus groups we are running concurrently with the online data collection.  We hope this will be beneficial to teachers in our district and across the state.  We also hope teacher input will help district leaders craft an equity plan that meets the needs of our students.
