Ebook Scam
Please be aware of a current ebook scam that is circulating and protect yourself from becoming a victim.
This is how the scam works.
Someone will create a website that is very similar to a well-known ebook website in order to steal financial and private information from individuals who are purchasing educational and other books.
- The fake site is ebook.com
- The real site is ebooks.com
The information is then forwarded to the real site so that the purchase is made and the individual continues to believe they have accessed the correct site. In the meantime, the fake site uses the victim’s information to sign up for month-to-month subscriptions hoping that individuals who don’t regularly check their finances won't catch the subscriptions.
As the holidays approach, these types of scams proliferate, have multiple sites and companies, and employ social media and fake reviews in order to add legitimacy to their site.
Teacher Input Requested
In partnership with USBE and support from the Governor’s Office of Education, the Utah Teacher Fellows are collecting data on Equity in Utah Classrooms to inform state and local ESSA plans, particularly related to requirement #4 in the ESSA law.
Teacher input is required for developing state and district ESSA plans and we will be happy to provide disaggregated data for Jordan School District, if enough teachers from the District participate.
The survey is 12 multiple-choice questions and only takes a few minutes. It was designed with input from USBE.
The closing date is Oct. 31 and is currently open.
- USBE Teacher Survey
USBE is also planning to develop a toolkit of PD resources tailored to meet teacher needs based on feedback from teachers through this survey and the focus groups we are running concurrently with the online data collection. We hope this will be beneficial to teachers in our district and across the state. We also hope teacher input will help district leaders craft an equity plan that meets the needs of our students.

A Message From Our Digital Learning Specialists
Jordan's Digital Learning department is accepting applicants for new cohorts of the Educational Technology Endorsement Program (ETEP) for 2019.
- Register Now
The Educational Technology Endorsement Program (ETEP) is an intensive 1-2-year professional development program provided to a group of Jordan teachers by the Jordan Digital Learning Department. It comprises a blend of evening face-to-face sessions and online learning in which teachers explore ways to leverage classroom technology in a constructivist, student-centered approach to increase instructional effectiveness and student achievement.
Endorsement objectives include:
- Enhance teacher instructional practices by using technology seamlessly in classrooms
- Emphasize project-based learning, constructivist approaches, and student-centered classrooms
- Enrich instructional effectiveness
- Increase student academic achievement
This program is intensive, with participation in a 3 credit hour course required every semester. Each course includes 5-6 face-to-face sessions as well as an online component. At the successful completion of the program, participants will have received 18 credit hours (USOE or UVU) and also receive their Educational Technology Endorsement.
The district provides the following for each participant:
- 18 hours of college or lane change credit.
- Participant must pay for UVU credit. USBE credit is free.
- Educational Technology Endorsement on teaching certificate. (Participant must submit paperwork.)
If you have any questions about the ETEP program please contact Raimee Jensen at 801-567-8158 in the Digital Learning staff.
Parent Access to Canvas
In our continuing efforts to partner with parents for the academic success of students, Jordan School District is providing parents with access to Canvas to observe their student’s progress. Canvas is the Learning Management System being used throughout the district.
We hope that this resource will:
- Provide parents with more specific information about their student’s curricula, so they have better insight into the work that teachers and students are doing in the classroom.
- Provide more meaningful information that may be used to improve conversations concerning academic progress between parents and students.
When parents access Canvas, they will be able to see:
- course syllabus
- course assignments
- feedback on assignments (if appropriate)
- grades on individual assignments
IMPORTANT: The total grade in Canvas may be different than the term grade in Skyward. Skyward will continue to be the official record for student grades and all official Jordan School District communication. Parents should continue to use Skyward to monitor their student’s progress in each of the courses.
